Stands To Reason
02:01
|
|||
think it stands to reason the word love should be in quotes
if i had to think of just one damn thing you should know
it’s that even though it was my call
my life's just gotten worse
but i wouldn’t change a single thing at all
a bleeding heart a sheep a weep some warn shoes
she calls me sweetheart i decide to order two
think it stands to reason the word love should be in quotes
if i had to think of just one damn thing you should know
it’s that even though it was my call
my life's just gotten worse
but i wouldn’t change a single thing at all
death arrives ahead of schedule most times
persistently bad poetry but i try
think it stands to reason the word love should be in quotes
if i had to think of just one damn thing you should know
it’s that even though it was my call
my life's just gotten worse
but i wouldn’t change a single thing at all

Unburdened Blues
02:20
|
|||
i'd say she burned like a cigarette
but that's bad writing isn't it
but the girls don't seem to notice it
some bare limbed season unbeautiful reasons to quit
the face of death is an honest one
looks just like my father's only son
i promise i ain't the only one
unburdened females let those shrinking details be gone
static hearts vainly settle down
for the future sacrifice the now
i wonder what it's like to drown
broke and broken i reckon i'll find out

Audienceless Victims
02:30
|
|||
i can’t go to god at all but god could i use a bottle
i’ll paint you one more masterpiece rip it to shreds and leave it at your feet
legs just like broken promises i swear there’s nothing in this for me
they say there's health and fire in youth but all i see is ash in you
so give me strength to preach the truth in one more tune before they do
audienceless victims again there’s nothing in this kingdom for me
skin it hangs off like a sheet say you’ve never been as happy
as when they had the decency to give you what you finally needed
years of poison and noise and indiscretions catch up

No Promises
03:35
|
|||
the road to hell has a traffic jam
helplessly ugly sons of lambs
would you hurt me
no promises
would you hurt me
well i guess i can
palaver and smoking at your dad's place
the man in the film reminds you of his face
would you hurt me
no promises
would you hurt me
well i guess i can
desperately handsome with a handshake
your knees loosen as he's speaking your name
would you hurt me
no promises
would you hurt me
well i guess i can

Casket's Wife
02:57
|
|||
we all have our ways of attempting
to rescue ourselves from the past
the sacrosanct pills
the unsober chills
trying desperate to make that shit last
if they paid you to drink you’d despise it
there's something about doing things wrong
you punish yourself
inventible hell
finally placid you write one more song
falsely resplendent in a casket
they see how unhandsome you were
they grieve for the young
but wonder how come
how they could just blame it all on her
